Neodymium-Iron-Boron (NdFeB) materials undergo structural degradation when exposed to temperatures above their threshold limit. Traditionally, metallurgical engineers added heavy rare earths like Dysprosium (Dy) or Terbium (Tb) throughout the bulk alloy to prevent thermal demagnetization. However, this process significantly reduced remanence (Br) and increased material costs.
To overcome these challenges, Zhejiang Laysun Magnetics Ltd. has implemented advanced Grain Boundary Diffusion (GBD) processes. Instead of blending expensive Dy or Tb into the melt, we deposit these heavy elements onto the surface of the sintered magnet and apply a specialized heat treatment. Under controlled thermal conditions, the Dy/Tb elements diffuse along the grain boundaries, concentrating where demagnetization fields are strongest. This process allows us to increase coercivity by 2 to 10 stages without compromising the magnet's remanence.
Our manufacturing facility in Sichuan utilizes high-vacuum induction melting furnaces (VIM) and strip casting (SC) technology to create thin alloys with consistent chemical profiles. The alloy flakes are processed via jet milling in a nitrogen environment to produce single-crystal particles averaging 3 to 5 microns in size. During the magnetic alignment phase, these powder grains are oriented under a strong magnetic field and pressed into shape, ensuring uniform anisotropy and predictable magnetic properties in the finished product.
