In the engineering of electromotors, sensors, and actuators, magnetic properties are not general metrics—they are highly precise metallurgical properties driven by composition and atomic structure. When analyzing the magnetic properties of metal products, engineers primarily evaluate several core magnetic metrics:

  • Remanence (Br): The measurement of magnetic field density remaining inside the magnet after the external magnetizing field is removed. Expressed in Tesla (T) or Gauss (G), high remanence is crucial for high flux density and high torque output in electric vehicle (EV) motors.

Standard high-coercivity NdFeB magnets historically required alloying heavy rare earths like Dysprosium (Dy) or Terbium (Tb) throughout the entire magnet matrix. This process significantly increased material costs and reduced remanence.

How do you request a custom magnetic properties pricelist?

Since permanent magnets are highly specialized, unit prices depend heavily on raw material indices (Neodymium, Dysprosium, Cobalt), dimensional tolerances, coating types, and ordering volumes. To receive an accurate pricelist, please provide the desired Grade (e.g., N35H, N52), dimensions with tolerances, coating preference (NiCuNi, Zinc, or Epoxy), and monthly/annual quantity forecasts.

What coatings do you recommend for preventing NdFeB oxidation?

Standard NdFeB is prone to corrosion. The most common solution is multi-layered Nickel-Copper-Nickel (Ni-Cu-Ni) plating. For outdoor or high-humidity environments, we recommend black or grey Epoxy coating, which offers excellent salt spray resistance (up to 48–96 hours). For extreme environments, specialized coatings like Everlube or Teflon are available.

How does Grain Boundary Diffusion affect NdFeB pricing?

Grain Boundary Diffusion (GBD) decreases the required volume of heavy rare earths (Dy/Tb) by focusing them on the grain boundaries. This allows the magnet to achieve high operating temperatures (UH, EH, AH grades) while keeping raw material costs lower compared to conventional co-melting methods.
