The deciding factor is the operating temperature. While an N52-grade magnet offers the highest energy product (BH max) at room temperature, it experiences rapid thermal demagnetization above 80°C. For industrial magnetic separators, oil-cooled motors, and generators operating at higher temperatures, UH, EH, or AH grades are used. These grades feature higher intrinsic coercivity (Hcj) to resist demagnetization under continuous high-heat stresses (up to 220°C).
Sintered NdFeB is inherently porous and susceptible to oxidation. A triple-layer plating of Nickel-Copper-Nickel provides superior hermetic sealing.
